The Snopes Trilogy -The Town -The Hamlet-The Mansion by William Faulkner

The Snopes Trilogy is a series of three novels written by William Faulkner regarding the Snopes family in the fictional Yoknapatawpha County, Mississippi. It consists of The Hamlett, The Town and The Mansion. It was begun in 1940 and completed in 1959.

The Mansion focuses on Linda, Flem’s stepdaughter, who is widowed and deafened while fighting for the Loyalists with her husband in the Spanish Civil War, and on her actions when she returns to Jefferson, which include conspiring with Mink Snopes, Flem’s cousin, who kills Flem.

 The Hamlet, by William Faulkner, takes place in the fictional Yoknapatawpha County, Mississippi, in a rural area known as Frenchman’s Bend in the late 19th and early 20th century. It chronicles the rise to local power of the Snopes family, led by the ruthlessly ambitious Flem Snopes.

The Town is the story of Flem Snopes’s ruthless struggle to take over the town of Jefferson, Mississippi, the book is rich in typically Faulknerian episodes of humor and profundity. This is the second volume of Faulkner’s trilogy about the Snopes family, his symbol for the grasping, destructive element in the post-bellum South.
