Description

Omar Khayyam was a Persian polymath, philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, and poet. While he was well-regarded in his lifetime for his scientific achievements, Khayyam is most famous today for his poetry.

Khayyam wrote in the rubaiyat style, a four-line verse form in which the first, second, and fourth lines typically rhyme. This structure lent itself to pithy observations and reflections on life, death, and the human condition. Many of his poems celebrate the joys of the present moment, while others grapple with the mysteries of existence and the passage of time. These themes continue to resonate with modern readers.

Though he flourished centuries ago, Khayyam can be seen as a kindred spirit to other poets who explore existential themes, like Ruminations  and Hafizh Herdi. His work, like theirs, encourages reflection and invites readers to appreciate the beauty of the world around them.
